Caseworker and Child Abuse and Neglect Investigator
Nathan Bassett began working in the social work field in 1987 where he served as a child welfare specialist at Salem Children’s Home, Flanagan, Illinois, a residential treatment facility for adolescent males and females. While at this facility, Nathan assisted in developing and implementing a sex offender and victim program, as well as, aided in developing the residential treatment program and staff training.
Nathan then worked for Youth Services of Mid-Illinois in Bloomington, Illinois where he was in charge of coordinating all of the recreational programs for the entire agency. He also trained employees in the area of therapeutic recreation and served as a presenter at state-wide conferences for childcare facilities in Illinois.
In 1995, Nathan began his career with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Nathan holds his child welfare licensure with this agency. He had worked as a caseworker for 6 years and has worked as a child abuse and neglect investigator since 2001. Nathan investigates child abuse and neglect reports involving such incidents as domestic violence, substance abuse, medical neglect, and environmental neglect. Nathan has received training with the U.S. Marshals, Chicago Police Department and has helped worked a case with the Chicago Police Department Central Homicide Cold Case Unit.
