Safe Horizon’s mission is to provide support, prevent violence, and promote justice for victims of crime and abuse, their families and communities. For over a quarter of a century Safe Horizon has been at the forefront of helping victims of crime and abuse through their crises. They are recognized leaders responding to the changing needs of their clients, and they are sought out as experts on issues of violence and victimization for programs across the country and around the world. One by one, their dedicated staff help over 350,000 victims each year find hope by offering a chance to tell their story in their own words, a guide through the criminal justice system, a safe place to sleep.
Among their many programs, Safe Horizon recently launched SafeWork -- a dynamic initiative to educate corporate audiences about the impact of domestic violence on the workplace. CAEPV has been pleased to be a part of this program, created through a partnership between Safe Horizon and USI Holdings Corporation. SafeWork’s goal is to make companies stronger by keeping employees safe and protecting their bottom line.
A play, “(Un)Safe,” developed specifically for the SafeWork initiative, provides participants a window into the life of a senior executive who is a victim of domestic violence and its impact on her at home and work. Management and human resource professionals learn the real impact of domestic violence in the workplace and steps they can take to address it. The play is followed by facilitated, interactive discussions that will address implementing the tools to recognize and address the domestic violence issues in the workplace. Participants receive a practical toolkit to support their efforts moving forward in addressing this business issue.
